Are you interested in how our ceramic cups are made and would you like to know the process? In this article you will learn everything about the detailed process of making a ceramic cup - from the raw ceramic to the design and sublimation printing to the final, individual cup.

1. Production of the raw ceramics

The first step in making a ceramic mug starts with choosing the right clay. This is kneaded thoroughly and molded to achieve the desired mug shape. This is followed by the first firing, also called biscuit firing, at around 900 °C. This step ensures that the mug has a stable basic shape. After biscuit firing, the mug is glazed to create a shiny, protective surface. Sublimation printing requires a special coating that is applied to the mug. This coating not only ensures a smooth surface, but also allows the sublimation ink to adhere perfectly. The coating is then fixed at high temperatures, creating a durable and resistant base for the print.

2. Design concept and creation

Before your ceramic mug is printed, the focus is on design creation. Here you have the option of creating your own design or choosing one of our ready-made designs . You can add text, insert graphics or use photos. Our experienced design team will help you choose the best color combinations and the optimal arrangement to achieve the best result. The design is created using special software programs that enable a precise preview so that you can see exactly what your mug will look like in advance.

3. Typesetting and print preparation

After the design is finalized, typesetting takes place. In this step, the design elements are positioned precisely and optimized for printing. It is ensured that the resolution is high enough to ensure a sharp and clear print. Every detail is checked to ensure there are no unwanted gaps or distortions. Print preparation also includes adjusting color saturation and choosing the right color profiles to ensure that the colors appear as vibrant and realistic on the mug as they do on the screen.

4. Sublimation printing

Sublimation printing is a fascinating process in which the design is transferred to the ceramic mug using heat and pressure. First, the design is printed on a special transfer paper. This paper is then placed on the prepared mug and placed in a special press. At a temperature of around 200 °C, the ink becomes gaseous and bonds permanently with the coated surface of the mug. This chemical process does not create raised print layers, but rather a smooth and permanent print. The colors are reproduced intensively and in great detail, making the ceramic mug a real eye-catcher.

5. Quality control

After the sublimation process, each ceramic mug undergoes a strict quality control. We check that the design has been applied correctly, that there are no color variations and that the surface is flawless. Small irregularities that could affect the aesthetic or functional value will result in the mug being rejected. Only mugs that meet our high quality standards are released for shipping.

6. Packaging and Shipping

In the final step, your ceramic mug is carefully packaged. We use protective packaging material to ensure that the mug is not damaged during transport. Each mug is shipped in a sturdy box that is specially designed for shipping fragile items. This way, your individually designed mug will arrive at your home safe and sound.
